The new love of my life.
Snowboarding. I am absolutely in love with it. I love the speeds I can get up to, I love the rush when you're going so super fast and you can't stop! And I love the sun on my face, and the snow under my feet anytime it gets too hot. I arrived in Zurich on Friday night coz I skived off work. Heh. All that OT needs to be carried over la. ;) And when I went for dinner nearly fainted at the price!! 3 people, and it was 200 Francs!! I didn't even have dessert or a starter coz I ate on the train and it was already 9pm!!! *faint* I'm so not gonna live there man. Costs too much. So we left in the morning kinda late coz we got back late, and stopped over at Heidiland. Gorgeous little place where there's a Marché. Hehe. To have brekkie. :) Yumm. So by the time we arrived in the village it was round about lunchtime. The town we stayed in was this small little village. It was gorgeous! Small little huts and streets. One huge palace in the middle of the whole place where celebrities get lifted in by helicopters. One of those show-off-y places. The kind where people who have money love to go to, to be seen and to show off. The palace was really pretty though! And right across from it were all the shops. Prada, Gucci, Dolce&Gabana. Haha. Yes, they're smart. Place it strategically so the wealthy can go and splurge. And the wonderful thing about these shops? They treat everyone like princesses coz they think if you could afford to be up here, you can afford to buy their stuff! Haha. So anyway, we stayed abt 10-15 minutes from this grandeur. In a quaint lil place. Also called a palace by the way, but not THE palace. It was small, little, old. Celebrated it's 100 years while we were there by the way. High high ceilings with a small lounge and a grand piano. I loved it! Sooooo old-style. Gorgeous I say. Even took a photo of it while I was coming down the ski-lifts. It's the green thing in the middle of the photo. Look at how big it is compared to the rest! It isn't a very good photo coz we were too high up though, but it was a HUMONGOUS place compared to all the 'little' villas next to it! Haha. (Besides, I didn't wanna risk taking my phone out too far down coz I was afraid I'd ding it up again!) So I arrived in the afternoon all set to board and guess what! Rental shop closed for lunch on a Saturday aftn!! 12-2. =( So no point going coz the weather seemed to be taking a turn for the worse. So the first day I was there instead of boarding down the slopes, I was walking up and down the slopes from one shop to another, from one cafe/lounge/bar to another. Yes, the whole day was spent shopping and eating. Eating so much! Yumm!! My uncle said there should have been some champagne effect though. What with it being about 1600m above sea level. But didn't hurt my appetite or my sleep cycle. Hur hur hur. So met this chubby italian friend of my uncle's. He's pretty nice. But he supposedly only understands one langauge. Hahaha. That starts with S. And ends with X. Which means he drives the perfect car for that. The kind all the girls wanna hop into. Heh. So anyway, this guy is a really interesting character. Every hotel he goes to, he goes to the Concierge. Says, wait. Leaves the baggage there, and then goes up to see the room first! So he goes from room to room until he's perfectly satisfied with the view, and the bed, and whatever! And we're talking about top hotels here. 6-star. Not normal dinky ones. BTW, they're all super amused coz I call em Uncle and Aunty So-and-so. But I have to! They're so old!! 40+ *faint* So we met him at this REALLY cool lounge where this waiter there tried to chat me up. Haha. I think it's so amusing that spance and yingchao got mistaken for japanese, and the bartender asks ME if i was from shanghai. *faint* And when I said singapore typical answer? Oh! Singapore! I've been there? "uh-huh, sure. *polite smile*" But this guy really had! He knew chinatown and Lil India and Sentosa! Been there about 10+ times apparently! Hahah. Coolness. So I was ordered to go down there again if I'm ever in St. Moritz again. Yeah, in my dreams. Heh. And in the evening we went for dinner with this dude. He used to be the number 2 for Walt Disney in the US. Marketing Director. But then he decided to retire coz he made rolls of money (helped that his daddy was rich) and move back to switzerland. but of course, for his retirement trip he and his WHOLE family decided to do a biking trip across Europe. 3 months! Of sleeping in tents by the road and going from point A to point B on bicycles! How cool is that!!! And so anyway, he owns a holiday home there. With like 10+ rooms. And all authentic from 200 years ago or smth. His daddy bought the house 60 years ago for "nothing" (translated to at least 2 million francs seeing as to how its worth at least 15-20 mill now) and everything in there is authentic! Low low ceilings, original stovepipes, lil 4 poster beds. Original stuff. And in the attic, there's this room from the 12th century that they liked, and airlifted in. Haha. All the wood and the hinges and everything was hand made and original. Just like in the movies with the knights! über cool! But, I don't think I would wanna live there, a lil creepy and the rooms have low ceilings. So claustraphobic. Haha. Oh oh oh! And they have stables leading right into the house!! Coolness!! In fact, most of the villas there look the same, but this one is one of the few where the internals were completely NOT modernised. Sehr schön! So we had dinner at this place I can't remember the name of where I met more people. Gah! One of them was complaining coz he was sposed to attend a premiere of Ice Age 2! I wanted to watch that!! But at the last minute they managed to get out of it and meet us for dinner instead. -.- Gah! What a trade-off!~ Anyways. The next day managed to go snowboarding! Woke up at 7am (so much for holidays!) and got up on the slopes. Perfect weather!! Cloudless skies, nice snow! After the whole morning, I felt pro enough to get off the baby slopes and onto the SUPER STEEP mountain!! I was on the alps man!! Woo hoo!!! At first a bit freaky la. Coz it's so steep that when ur on the way down, u can't see what's over the next rise. But once I mastered the art of going down vertically so I won't go fast and fly into the open sky it wasn't so bad. haha. I had to go down a really steep slope for lunch, you see. Impt. Food. Haha. If not I wouldn't have dared take the risk to go so high up and so fast!! They were having this event up in the mountains by the way. Near the lodge we were eating. People were sposed to ski all the way down, and if they were fast enough, there's this pool of water in the middle that they'd be able to surf completely across. Like water skiing. Unfortunately, the entire time we were there no one did it. Haha. And the weather was so nice guys were going down in berms and tees. And girls were wearing bikinis. Haha. Kinda gross though, when they wear bikinis with all their cellulite hanging out. :S But anyways, rambling too long already la. Nothing much else happened (other than the fact that there was this pretty boy from Germany who now lives in the south of france - who my aunt thinks is some rich lady's toy boy coz he's wearing his prada sport shades and he looks cool but he was there ALONE. and whats there in the south of france man. haha. oh, and some other guys who were testing out this new brand of skis that again tried to chat us up. "I'm sorry, I don't speak german." *grins*) I'm there to snowboard man!!! Not to get picked up!!! Grrr. So the next day when I was waiting for the train back to Munich, this dark blue Rolls pulled up from the palace. *faint* So ostentatious man. And 2 guys stepped out. Hahah. Immediate reaction: "gay". Naturallya. They were dressed so perfectly! And wearing scarves that way. Heh. So they did go on the train I was on coz it's this all-famous scenic train ride. Of course there was a world of difference. They travelled first class. And for me, 118 swiss francs (about S$160) was already too ex to pay to get from point A to point B. I need my car man. =( That way I'll pay on petrol not on dinky trains. Ah wells. :) Only if I'm staying here long term. Or if I'm driving to wherever I decide to stay. ;) Along the way to Munich the train stopped in St. Gallen!! So i hopped out and went touring around with spance and bought like at LEAST 50 euros worth of choccies!! *faint* I already finished half of them. hahahah. :) So anyway, I loved it so much that I might be taking advantage of the LAST week of the season during Easter! Tee hee. =) I so wanna get a pink board and suit. But I have to wait till I get really good before I look like that. Already going out there in a bright orange jacket and matching ski-shades. With completely white insides and ski-pants (so as not to draw attention) was bad enough!! Especially since the board I rented had orange flowers on it. So matching! Haha. Coolness. ;) Especially since the outfit was mix-and-match and borrowed. Ah wells. Actually, I just got back from the Red Bull Hangar 7. More pix to come soon! But rambled too long already. Hee. :)
