travels

it's time for one of those placeholder status thingies. why? cos otherwise i'd never have time to put all the posts up!!!

so for a quick summary, the places i went to are listed below. and as with any trip involving hana, food was a very major focus. more so than the sights, or the souveneirs. =)

lake balaton & budapest - hungary
I managed to get by on my incredibly rusty german. I understood everything everyone was saying perfectly! it just took me awhile to put my thoughts into proper grammatically correct sentences.

I fell in love with the lake and the little villages dotting the banks. (do you call them banks of the lake? i wonder. hmm.) there was practically NO other tourists around except for us driving along. so of course, lotsa weird stares. but it's ok. i'm used to that. haha.

and budapest. oh, i loved this place. so much charm! and it helped that as we were leaving, it started snowing!! in the bright sunshine. in the middle of march, when the temperature was still pretty high! it was such a gorgeous surprise. although, granted, it didn't snow all that much.

vienna - austria
it snowed more in Vienna. Took us incredibly long to find the place we were staying armed without a map. Haha. And just a vague idea of where it was. But hours later, it was so worth it. The place was next to a Palace Hotel. Literally, it looked like a Palace all lit up at night. And it was on a hill quite a fair bit from Vienna, which gave a magnificent view of the city and the vineyards. It did take awhile to get into the centre, but we didn't mind at all cos we drove. ;)

Met the nicest people here! And! Was here for International Pillow Fight Day. Haha. We were all standing around in the middle of the huge central church, and suddenly, at 2pm, we whipped our pillows out and started hitting random people (who were also armed of course) until the feathers flew - it looked very much like snow! and of course, the police came, and everyone scrambled away. heh.

bratislava - slovakia
thanks to the easter weekend, all the good places were fully booked, so we ended up staying with the best host ever! took us everywhere! word of caution though. when someone says it's "not very far away" ask him what he does for a living. if the answer is gym teacher. you know what to do. was a good thing i was used to walking already!!! now here it was snowing too! gorgeous gorgeous weather. albeit a lil cold when the car wasn't in use.
and by the way, it's true what they say. the girls from slovakia are gorgeous. you should see their miss universe calendar. the girls are all decently dressed, and yet still swoonworthy. wanted to buy back one of those as a pressie, but couldn't find any!! ohwells. sorry guys. :p

transylvania & bucharest - romania
now this. this deserves an entry all on its own. so till next time.

and yes! i need to make sure all the photos don't snowball over! cos in 2 weeks its time for another trip!! i can't believe i'm only gonna be living here for more or less 10 weeks! on the one hand, i will miss italy so much, on the other hand, i can't wait to go back and catch up with everyone i've left behind in sunny sg. oh wells. the countdown begins. *grins*
